‘Predatory’ delivery driver who tricked 13-year-old schoolgirl into back of his van and raped her is jailed for 11 years

A delivery driver who ‘tricked’ a 13-year-old girl into the back of his van and raped her was today jailed for 11 years.
‘Predatory’ Denis Kadena, 34, ‘winked’ at the schoolgirl as he passed her then turned his van around and followed her before offering her a lift under false pretences.
The ‘vulnerable’ teenager – who was wearing her uniform and walking back to school – was then driven to a secluded country lane where Kadena began touching her and stroking her thigh.
‘Opportunistic’ Kadena then lured her into the back of his white Mercedes van by claiming he needed ‘help’ before raping her in an ‘horrific’ attack that left the helpless teen ‘gravely damaged’.
Today the paedophile delivery driver was jailed for 11 years – as his victim told a court ‘he took something special from me’.

A court heard Kadena raped the girl in a secluded area of Totton, near Southampton, Hampshire, in September last year.
Following the attack – which happened while she was meant to be in classes – Kadena dropped her outside her school and she told friends she had been raped.
That evening, Kadena searched ‘Southampton kids’ crime’ on his iPhone.
A week later a police officer saw a van matching the description and DNA evidence from Kadena also returned a match.
Kadena denied sexual assault and two counts of rape but was convicted by a jury at Southampton Crown Court.
Today, his victim said in a statement read to court: ‘He took something special from me.
‘I am slowly starting to build myself back up. Now I am hoping I can put this behind me and try to get better.’
Jailing Kadena for 11 years, Judge Christopher Parker KC said: ‘The child was vulnerable and isolated.
Kadena drove them to a secluded country lane before telling the girl he ‘needed help’ getting something out the back of the van (pictured). Once inside, he raped the teenager
‘There is severe psychological damage you have caused this child.
‘Whilst there’s a hope that she may recover, she is plainly gravely damaged by your behaviour and sexual assault.
‘Your behaviour was opportunistic and there was a predatory element to what you did.
‘You pose a significant risk of serious harm to young girls at present, in my judgement.’
Kadena, from Southsea in Portsmouth, Hants, ‘lied and lied and lied’ to police, it was heard.
Speaking after the case, Detective Inspector Claire Shawley, Hampshire police’s Senior Investigating Officer, said: ‘This was a horrific attack on a young girl who was making her way back to school.
‘Understandably, this was a traumatic ordeal for her and I would like to commend her bravery and courage in helping us bring this dangerous man to justice.
‘I hope this sentence brings her some comfort.’
